During last year Estiko-Plastar has installed in total 3100 solar panels to the roofs of production and warehouse facilities with maximum power output of 900kW. In general all the electricity from these solar panels is used in the factory but during sunny days also some electricity is transferred to Eesti Energia’s powergrid.
When receiving the award, Neinar Seli, chairman of supervisory board of Estiko group, said that Estiko has taken big steps into more sustainable production and we are glad that these activities are noticed.
Estiko Energy’s solar panels’ power output covered as much as 16% of last five month’s electricity consumption of Estiko-Plastar’s production need. This means that in a seven days working week one whole day’s production were made with solar energy.
Eveli Opmann, Managing Director of Estiko-Plastar, added that it has been one of company’s targets to start using sustainable energy and 16% of our total energy usage from solar power source is really good outcome in our way towards more sustainable production. With investments made in the past Estiko-Plastar is burning gases from own printing processes and reuse 95% of own production residue already.
Estiko Energy has in total 11 solar panel plants in Estonia with maximum power output of 2,2MW. As a reference, this is equal to 600 EU average household’s energy consumption.
Furthermore, during autumn 2019 production of the biggest solar energy plant in Baltics will be started by Estiko Energy.
