About us

Estiko Packaging Solutions is the corner stone of Estiko Group. Our roots reach into the year 1918 when Albert Laretei founded his comb factory in Tartu. The past 100 years have been filled with product and technology innovations as well as organisational advancements, leading us to become the innovative packaging producer we are today.

The experience gained over the years, the constant acquisition of information about the latest developments in the global packaging market and the continuing investments in human resources, technology and product research and development make us a professional, flexible and reliable partner both in domestic and international markets.

Estiko Packaging Solutions has production facilities in Estonia and Poland, represented by our subsidiary SEFKO since 2024.

Albert Laretei founds a comb factory in Tartu
The company is named Tartu Kammivabrik

1930

Tartu Kammivabrik is renamed to Estonian Comb Factory, or Estico in short
Company employs 141 people, exporting combs mainly to England

1940

Company is nationalised, and production is expanded to Teguri Street
Number of employees increases to 400

1950

The factory’s production diversifies, and over 336,000 combs are manufactured annually from nitrocellulose

1961

New innovative materials, such as polystyrene, polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) are implemented

1969

Start of film production – the first extruder, printing machine, and welding machine are purchased
Company employs 730 people

1975

Share of plastic film and film products increases, leading to new warehouse and production facilities
Recycling and processing of production waste begins
Number of employees grows to 978

1981

Start of injection moulding production

1993

Creation of Estiko Group, which complements the production facility with the addition of real estate and retail businesses
Factory continues operations under the name Estiko-Plastar

2001

Large-scale investments in new machinery: 3-layer extruder, 8-colour printing machine, laminator, and a slitting machine

Strategic focus on food industry packaging and export
