Estiko Packaging Solutions is the corner stone of Estiko Group. Our roots reach into year 1918 when Albert Laretei founded his comb factory in Tartu. The past 100 years have been filled with product and technology innovations and organizational advancement, leading us to an innovational packaging producers today.

The experience gained over the years, the constant acquisition of information about the latest developments in the global packaging market and the continuing investments in human resources, technology and product research and development make us a professional, flexible and reliable partner both in the domestic and international markets.

  • A. Laretei founds a comb factory in Tartu
  • The company is named Tartu Kammivabrik (Tartu Comb Factory) 

1930

  • The factory is renamed to Eesti Comb Factory, or Estico in short
  • Company employs 141 people, exporting combs mainly to England 

1940

  • Company is nationalised, and production is expanded to Teguri Street 
  • Number of employees increases to 400

1950

  • The factory’s production diversifies, and over 336,000 combs are manufactured annually from nitrocellulose

  • New innovative materials, such as polystyrene, polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) are implemented

  • Start of film production the first extruder, printing machine, and welding machine are purchased
  • Company employs 730 people

1975

  • Share of plastic film and film products increases, leading to new warehouse and production facilities
  • Recycling and processing of production waste begins 
  • Number of employees grows to 978

  • Creation of Estiko Group, which complements the production facility with the addition of real estate and retail businesses
